AAfter this first Dj gig at BOXPARK I feel more confident. It was great to put us out there and immediately experience how it is to DJ in front of a crowd.

AI really wanted to take this seriously because I always loved DJing and this opportunity coming to me meant something. I expected to be able to learn the very basics of DJing which I surpassed.

AIt’s a great opportunity for people who want to learn how to DJ. It’s a no judgment zone, everyone is very friendly and helpful. It doesn’t matter your experience level, everyone can benefit from it.

AGo for it! It’s worth it. You get the opportunity to learn a new skill from professionals in a safe environment and get the chance to perform your DJ set at the end of your course. On top of that, you can network with a lot of people from the industry… I mean!

AI want to be known as a DJ, and have weekly bookings.

AI’m feeling great and still buzzing from the set. It was such a great turnout and I’ve heard nothing but positive feedback about the event.

AAt the time, I was excited for a new experience and to meet other like-minded women. I had no expectations however I left having made some genuine connections. Terry was fantastic and managed to teach us so much!

AStart From Scratch demonstrates how community and support can help you reach your goals and dreams. Start From Scratch is very special to my journey and I highly recommend that anyone partakes in a workshop, even if you don’t have an interest in DJing. It’s a great activity regardless!

ASTART. Not tomorrow or next month, start now. You won’t regret it. Also start at your own pace, take your time with it.

AI want to build a bigger network, not only of DJs but other creatives. I want to continue to develop as a DJ and be able to commit full time.

AI’m feeling very accomplished, proud, inspired and excited for the future.

AI would say that my expectations were to come away understanding the basics of DJing. My mindset was to have fun, make friends, learn new skills and enjoy myself.

AStart From Scratch is a great programme because it showed me that having a passion for music and a thirst to learn can be used together. The programme really allowed me to have another way to appreciate the art that is music, i.e. through DJing.

AThe first step to starting something is to action it! Don’t think about what’s next just dip your toe in and see how you like it - what’s the worst that can happen?

AIn the next 12 months I want to have played in at least 3 different settings (e.g. a club, festival & wedding). I want to have a strong set of mixes on my Mixcloud/Soundcloud and have collaborated with other DJs that I love. I want to also have the opportunity to teach others how to DJ. Mostly though, I want to be more advanced and have fun with special effects, mixing based on pitch etc.
