Since its conception in 2009, Bedrock.LA has proven itself as a landmark creative space for working local and touring musicians in Los Angeles’, Echo Park neighborhood. With over 100 rooms and 40,000 square feet of space, it’s the music mecca for aspiring and Grammy Award-winning artists alike. In less than 10 years, Bedrock.LA has hosted a long list of artists including Edward Sharp, Fitz and the Tantrums, Jon Hopkins and Weird Al Yankovic.
Tagged as the creatively designed space for creativity, Bedrock.LA’s The Woodshed room is all about providing comfort, inspiration and enough gear to be productive, but not so much it adds tech time and costs while writing and tracking ideas. Recently, we were tasked with updating this popular room with studio equipment that could handle the vast number of multi-day production and songwriting sessions, while keeping the laidback, ‘plug in and go’ feel.
We knew we had to keep the products simple and easy to use while still delivering the high-quality sound expected of any recording studio so we chose the RM-07 monitor speakers, HRM-7 headphones, TORAIZ AS-1 monophonic synth and TORAIZ SP-16 sampler. All these products have a fairly simple learning curve, so artists in the Woodshed can spend more time fine tuning tracks and less time figuring out how to produce them.
The TORAIZ SP-16 sampler and step sequencer was the first release in our line-up of music production tools for DJs and producers. You can use it to create patterns, loops and add FX to craft your own unique sound. The TORAIZ SP-16 was designed in partnership with legendary synth-creator Dave Smith, who added his Prophet-6 analog filters to the unit so you can can give your creations a rich, analog warmth and presence.
Paired with the TORAIZ SP-16, the TORAIZ AS-1 synth can add rich basslines, leads and synths to any song, all from intuitive controls and parameter knobs. This gives you full control of both subtle and dramatic changes to the tone of your music, creating a sound that’s personalized to you.
The RM-07 speakers and HRM-7 headphones are professional grade and have extremely accurate sound representation when producing. Simply put, what you hear coming in is exactly what goes out.
Hundreds of artists visit Bedrock.LA every week and they’re always looking for extra inspiration. With the TORAIZ products, we’re helping to foster a new creative energy in the studio.
The speakers have improved the space so much, it’s unnecessary to use the subwoofer in the room. Together the products have allowed for the bass and other sounds to get dialed in quickly, creating a more effective and efficient workspace. Artists can now create a full song, ready for mixing and mastering without having to step foot in another room inside Bedrock.LA.
“We’ve used Pioneer DJ gear for many years in our rental and rehearsal rooms and we got to know the team through our friends at DubLab. When we learned of the new studio equipment, we knew it was a natural fit,” says KamranV, co-founder of Bedrock.LA. “The speakers have greatly improved the room and the TORAIZ AS-1 is so simple to use, you don’t get bogged down with different controls. Everything you need to change the sound is right there in front of you.”
Turn up the heat in the studio with the TORAIZ SP-16. Let your creativity fly with Dave Smith’s Prophet-6 analogue filters and a 16-step sequencer that lets you create up to 256 different patterns. Enjoy 2GB of pre-installed Loopmasters samples or create your own with live sampling.
