On Tuesday, our rekordbox™ music management software won the Cutting Edge prize at the 18th Edition DJ Awards, held at Pacha in Ibiza.
Collecting the prestigious award at Tuesday’s ceremony our General Manager (Europe), Mark Grotefeld, said: “We’ve worked with DJs for more than six years to improve and fine-tune rekordbox, and create the tool DJs around the world rely on today. To receive this recognition from the industry is extremely encouraging as we enter into a new phase of rekordbox – the birth of rekordbox dj performance software.”
Since its launch in 2009, DJs have used rekordbox to manage their music, prepare their sets – adding cues, loops and more – and unleash the full performance potential of our players, including previous Cutting Edge award winner, the CDJ-2000NXS. In September 2015, we took rekordbox to another level with the announcement of the rekordbox dj Plus Pack: performance software that gives DJs the flexibility to use the same rekordbox library to perform on controllers, such as the DDJ-RZ or DDJ-RX.
Hot Since 82, joint winner of the Tech House award, said: “I can’t even imagine playing a record without it being analysed by rekordbox. It helps me to organise my music more effectively, not to mention how it helps my flow while playing out live. The latest version is better than ever with faster analysing and an even sexier GUI.”
The Cutting Edge Award is one of 11 Special Industry Awards that are judged by electronic music professionals including DJs, managers, venue owners and record labels. Created in 1998, the annual DJ Awards are the only international awards to be held in Ibiza, the dance music capital of the world.
rekordbox has been built from the ground up to suit DJs of every style’s needs, as our Product Planning Manager, Rik Parkinson, explains: “rekordbox is always evolving. I love the quantize feature, it creates perfect loops every time and, with the addition of the rekordbox dj Plus Pack, we’re now catering for all performance styles, laptop or no laptop.”
