The history of dance music told through the words of iconic DJs.

We have released the third and final part of our 20th Anniversary documentary series, which tells the story of electronic dance music through insightful interviews with a host of world-class DJs, producers and industry players.

Pioneer DJ History Part 3: The Digital Revolution features tales from dance music greats including Carl Cox, Roger Sanchez, James Zabiela, Jazzy Jeff and DJ Shadow. It follows the evolution of music and technology from mid 80s Chicago house through to the birth of the digital download – and charts the changing role of the DJ from selector of music to artists in their own right. From Arthur Baker’s humble beginnings in a record store to Laidback Luke’s first CDJ and beyond, the final instalment sets the scene for the next 20 years and poses the question: what’s next?
