NATURAL EXPRESSION: Pioneer Pro Audio adds two new speakers to the active XPRS Series – Compact, versatile wooden-enclosure speakers featuring Powersoft Class D amps

Pioneer Professional Audio is adding two models to the XPRS Series of compact, high-powered active speakers: the XPRS10 two-way full range speaker, and the XPRS115S single 15-inch subwoofer.

Combining Pioneer Pro Audio sound engineering heritage with the reliable, energy-efficient power of Powersoft1 amps, the compact, portable wooden-enclosure XPRS Series offers a plug-and-play system that fills the room with a natural sound. The versatile speakers are ideal for live sound, mobile DJs, places of worship, rental and fixed installations.

Both the XPRS10 and XPRS115S feature 15mm birch plywood enclosures for a dynamic sound that works for all musical genres. The XPRS10 has a 10-inch LF driver, a 1.75-inch titanium diaphragm compression driver and Pioneer Pro Audio’s AFAST technology, all combining to deliver clear, clean audio with a deep bass range. Plus, the sound can be enhanced further using the four EQ modes with built-in DSP.

The XPRS115S is the perfect complement to enhance the tight and powerful low-end, thanks to its 15-inch drivers and a versatile crossover switch for adjusting the low pass filter cut-off at various stages between 80 Hz and 150 Hz.

Powersoft Class D amps in each speaker deliver a massive 2400 W output, while Power Factor Correction (PFC) ensures energy efficiency and a reliable performance. Extra attention has been paid to protecting the amp and the speaker, with thermal limiting, an input limiter, DC offset removal, AC mains protection and more. Plus, the auto-ranging power supply detects and adapts to the voltage without compromising the sound quality, making the XPRS Series a reliable performer in any environment.

The road-ready XPRS Series is durable and easy to transport; the PA speakers’ handles are positioned to ensure the weight is distributed equally, while the sub comes with removable castors. The wedge-shaped XPRS10 can be placed on the floor and used as a foldback monitor for stage performances, or it can be pole-mounted at a 0-degree or 7-degree tilt to suit the required set-up.

The new XPRS speakers will be available from mid-October.

Key features of the XPRS series

Hardwood enclosures produce a natural sound

The XPRS speakers are enclosed in 15 mm birch plywood cabinets to deliver a natural, dynamic sound. Pioneer Pro Audio’s AFAST technology drastically reduces standing waves that can produce a muffled response in the low to mid ranges. An acoustic tube in the cabinet absorbs only the standing waves, increasing the low frequency response.

Powersoft Class D amps for reliable, high-powered performance

Powersoft’s Class D amp modules produce 2400 W (peak) or 1200 W (continuous) output, similar to that of larger club speaker amps. The amps are equipped with Power Factor Correction (PFC) to reduce power consumption while ensuring reliability and a steady performance in all environments. The auto-ranging power supply means the XPRS Series can be plugged in anywhere in the world – including at venues with generators or temporary power supplies – and be expected to deliver the same high-quality sound.

Advanced protection features help prolong speakers’ life

The XPRS speakers include several features to protect the driver, amp and power supply to ensure peace of mind, consistent high-quality sound, and to help extend the life of the sound system.

Key features of the XPRS 10

High-performance drivers deliver a powerful, full range sound

The XPRS10 uses a high-grade ferrite 10-inch LF driver and a 1.75-inch titanium diaphragm compression driver to reproduce a clean, full range sound with low distortion even at high outputs. The newly designed compact horn sounds bright and clear.

Four EQ modes for a variety of musical genres and environments

A rotary selector switch on the back of the XPRS10 give instant access to four EQ modes which enable the speaker’s performance to be tweaked for different applications:

  • Flat: neutral production of the source audio
  • Bass +: amplifies the bass for dance music events
  • Speech: produces clear vocal sounds for seminars and speeches
  • Wedge: reduces the low frequencies to give a more balanced sound when the speaker is used as a floor monitor

Wedge shape and pole mount socket with tilt for a choice of three positions

The XPRS10 speakers are wedge shaped, making them ideal floor monitors. The pole mount socket can be set to straight or tilted to 7 degrees to direct the sound exactly where it’s needed.

Multiple inputs and outputs for flexible, easy set-up

The speakers have two balanced XLR/TRS combo sockets and an unbalanced RCA connection, so a MIC and other external devices can be connected at the same time – including using an AUX cable to connect and play directly from portable audio players, line-level mixers and tablets/smartphones. Each input can be controlled individually or using the master controls for lines one and two. Plus, two balanced XLR through output terminals enable easy connection to other speakers and subs.

Key features of the XPRS 115S

15-inch LF driver produces quick response and rich low end

The durable, high-quality 15-inch LF driver and slanted baffle deliver tight, rich, and powerful low frequencies similar to those produced by the XPRS215S dual 15-inch subwoofer.

Crossover and Phase switches deliver instant control of DSP settings

The Crossover switch allows for quick and easy adjustment of the cut-off frequency of the low pass filter, with a choice between 80Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz and 150Hz. The phase switch gives a choice of positive or negative polarity and prevents multiple subwoofers cancelling each other out.

Multiple inputs and outputs for flexible, easy set-up

The XPRS115S has two balanced XLR/TRS combo sockets for connecting two devices at the same time. Dual balanced XLR through output terminals enable easy connection to other speakers and subs.

Removable castors

Castors on the back of the cabinet take the hard work out of transit and set-up.
